Manage Sygic offline maps, delete unused maps, and free up storage space. Learn how to manage map storage on Android and iOS devices.

Offline maps can take up significant storage space on your device. This article explains how to manage your map storage, delete unused maps, and optimize space in Sygic GPS Navigation.

 

Check your storage usage

You can see how much space maps are using directly in the app:

  1. Open Menu (☰)

  2. Go to Offline maps → Add offline maps

Here you will find:

  • List of downloaded maps

  • Available storage space on your device

Always check available storage before downloading new maps to avoid failed downloads.

 

Delete offline maps (free up space)

Removing maps you no longer need is the fastest way to free up space.

Android

  1. Open Menu (☰) → Offline maps

  2. Tap and hold the map (country or region) you want to delete

  3. Select additional maps if needed

  4. Confirm deletion

 

iOS

  1. Open Menu (☰) → Offline maps

  2. Tap the edit (pen) icon in the top-right corner

  3. Select the maps you want to remove

  4. Tap Delete

 

Delete only part of a map (regions)

Some countries are divided into regions.

  • You can delete only selected regions instead of the entire country

  • This lets you keep essential areas while freeing up space

 

Move maps to different storage (Android)

On Android devices with an SD card:

  1. Open Menu → Settings → Storage

  2. Choose storage location:

    • Internal storage

    • SD card

You can also transfer maps between storage locations later.

 

Tips to optimize storage

  • Delete maps from places you no longer visit

  • Download only specific regions instead of entire countries

  • Regularly review your Offline maps list

  • Keep enough free space for map updates

Offline maps can be large (hundreds of MB to several GB depending on region).

 

What happens when you delete a map?

  • The map will no longer be available for offline navigation

  • You can download it again anytime

Navigation in that area will require re-downloading the map.

How do I free up storage space in Sygic app?

The easiest way is to delete offline maps you no longer need. Open Menu → Offline maps, select maps, and remove them to free up space.

Can I delete only part of a country map?

Will deleting maps affect navigation?

Sygic GPS Navigation works offline once maps are downloaded, but you need an internet connection to download or update them. 

Why can’t I download new maps?

This may happen if:

  • You don’t have enough free storage space

  • Your internet connection is unstable

  • Another app (VPN, firewall, antivirus, or ad blocker) is interfering with the download

Can I delete multiple maps at once?

Yes. 

Both Android and iOS allow selecting multiple maps and deleting them in one action.
