Speed Camera information
The speed cameras feature will show and notify you about known locations where you could be getting a speeding ticket.
For static speed cameras, i.e. those which are permanently installed next to roads, their database is included with the app and these will be shown even in offline mode, when your device has no internet connection. The database for static speed cameras is updated several times per year, and the information for it is gathered from many sources, usually specific to each country.
To report a new static speed camera location, click on "Submit a request" at the end of this article. Let us know its exact location, ideally with GPS coordinates, and also the direction in which it's measuring the speed.
On the other hand, information about mobile speed cameras (i.e. speed guns used by the police) is updated constantly, from a live online database of reports submitted by Sygic and TomTom users. In our app you can make a report while navigating by pressing the icon in the bottom left corner – location marker with an „!“ exclamation mark.
These speed measuring locations will only be shown for a few hours before automatically being removed from the database, since by then the mobile speed camera has most likely moved elsewhere. An internet connection is required for the Sygic app to receive information about this type of speed cameras from the live online database.
You can find options for Speed Cameras in the Sygic app’s menu → Settings → Notifications and Sounds → Speed Cameras. You can enable/disable this feature, select the warning sound, and adjust the distance from which you will get notified about them.
Icons for speed cameras are shown on the map directly at the location where it should be, and when you are navigating, a larger icon and distance to the camera will also be shown on the left edge of the screen.
