Real-Time Traffic is an paid add-on that provides live traffic information during navigation. Traffic information is displayed directly on the map and helps you identify delays, traffic congestion, road closures, road works, accidents, and other traffic-related incidents on your route.
How traffic information is displayed
When Real-Time Traffic is active, a traffic indicator in the form of a triangle icon appears in the upper-left corner of the navigation screen, showing the total delay on the current route caused by traffic conditions and incidents. If the triangle is greyed out, Real-Time Traffic is disabled or temporarily inactive. Tap the triangle icon to enable or reactivate the service.
Traffic-affected sections are also highlighted on the route progress bar at the bottom of the screen, providing a quick overview of where delays are located along the route.
Traffic conditions are displayed on the map and on the route progress bar using colored road sections:
yellow: moderate traffic congestion
red: heavy traffic congestion
Traffic incidents are marked with icons on the map and in the traffic overview (available by tapping the traffic indicator in the upper-left corner of the navigation screen). Depending on the available traffic data, these icons may indicate accidents, slow traffic, road closures, road works, obstacles on the road, and other traffic-related events.
Small arrows within the colored road sections indicate the direction of travel affected by the incident or restriction.
If the application finds a better route that avoids a traffic incident, congestion, or road closure, it may suggest an alternative route.
Traffic Notifications
Traffic notifications can be customized in Menu → Settings → Notifications & Sounds → Traffic notifications.
You can enable or disable notifications, choose a notification sound, enable vibration, or use a custom notification sound. Custom notification sounds require a Text-to-Speech (TTS) voice to be selected in the navigation voice settings.
